My design journey in a nutshell
1. Started in Communications
The complexities of people have always intrigued me which led me to study Communications in college. Learning communication processes at the individual, interpersonal, organization and societal levels have been vital in my success both personally and professionally.
2. Wearing many hats in Hospitality: Front Office to Finance
I worked in luxury brand hotels in New York and Chicago for six years. Nothing teaches you more about the needs and wants of people than the hospitality industry. Using my communications skills to good use, I was able to assess non-verbal cues, communicate effectively with guests and learn valuable lessons in solving problems to delight our users.
3. Creative agencies in San Francisco
I jumped on the opportunity to continue my career in Advertising. As a Client Accountant, I was embedded in cross-functional teams that worked on brands like Audi, Adobe, Sony PlayStation, and PepsiCo. Being in a creative environment invigorated me and pushed me to follow my heart and pursue a new career in design.

4. Switched to UX Design
I decided to make a change in my career that places me on the other side of the table. I have good ideas and I want to be heard. I started by taking HTML & CSS classes at Bay Area Video Coalition and UX workshops at General Assembly. I loved what I was learning and felt it was the right transition from my current career so I took a leap of faith and signed up for GA's UXDI course. I graduated April 2018. It was one of the best decisions I've ever made!
